  1. Sneakers without socks are still cool. The only difference is that nowadays instead of 100% of girls wearing sneakers without socks, suddenly 20% are wearing obvious socks and the other 80% still have no visible socks. Just because certain people claim socks are cool now doesn’t mean they speak for every young person. I think it would be cool if you made a video where you had some outfits with socks and sneakers and then you took the socks off and stuck your barefoot into the sneakers and let commenters tell which look is best. I vote no socks.

  2. Maybe your daughter had some other reason for suggesting that you wear socks because I work on a college campus and I only think 20% of the girls wear socks with sneakers

  3. Did you ask the moms if they were wearing micro socks or how did you know whether they had no socks. I think the reason why young girls wear socks that are visible is just to make their parents think they are out of touch. Perhaps, the kids hate socks themselves. I don’t know about the whole sneaker thing. I still think girls wear their sneakers without socks. The fact that some girls wear slippers and sandals without socks seems like they are just trying to prove their parents wrong for thinking that feminine dressed up shoes are not supposed to be worn with socks. Here’s a dumb metaphor: You know how kids all agreed to scam adults into thinking they had discovered a secret meaning for the number 67. In reality, they must have just wanted to pretend that they were the grown ups and they were smarter than grownups because they knew something that adults could not figure out. Similarly, kids want to feel superior by acting like whatever they like doing is the cool thing. The important question is do you like the way sneakers feel on your barefoot. If so, keep doing it. If you’ve always hated it, you can start wearing socks. With capri pants coming back into style lately, I think everyone will be showing ankles when they wear sneakers.

  4. I think it depends on the sneaker. You mentioned back in the 80’s girls wore socks. Girls did not wear socks with keds shoes and they still don’t. If a girl wears keds or converse to school, nowadays she doesn’t wear socks. If she is forced to wear socks for gym class, she will remove them when it’s over and she’s putting her barefeet back into her sneakers. I realize some other name brand shoes are being worn with socks. Also, I see some young kids wearing visible socks, but 12 year olds don’t know what they are doing. Hope that helps. Wearing socks just seems masculine to me. Best wishes. Feel free to reply.
